While his teammates are hiking through the snow in Utah, one very prominent Roo has been left to go it alone.
Brent Harvey isn't making the trip overseas, electing to stay closer to home.
"Obviously the boys going to Utah will be peaking in Round 1 and unfortunately I don't need to peak until about Round 7.
"So I sat down with all the fitness gurus and we just thought the best thing mentally is not to go to Utah and make sure I have a really hard training block when the boys get back," Harvey told Channel 7's Nathan Templeton.
Once his intense tailored program is completed, the NAB Cup will be on the horizon. His six week absence due to suspension for the regular season begs the question; how much game time will Boomer will receive in the pre-season?
"I'll sit down with Brad when they get back (from Utah) and nut that out. I've sat down with the fitness guys and worked out a program for when I need to train with intensity, when I can have a lighter week.
"With the NAB Cup I'm not too sure what's going to happen. I don't think I'll play the last one because Brad will certainly want to get the team right for Round 1."
With the exclusion of his debut season (1996), 2013 will be Harvey's latest start to a season and adjusting might be a struggle.
"It's been a little bit different this year, it'll be a challenge. It hasn't really affected me so much just yet but come Round 1...it's going to be doing my head in.
"...when the boys are playing and I know I should be out there, that's going to be the toughest time I think."
However the setback won't speed up the process towards the end of Harvey's glittering career.
"I won't be knocking on his (Brad Scott's) door to say I'm retiring anytime soon. I love the game and I love our football club so I'll be hanging around as long as I can."
