With North Melbourne’s AGM just one week away, Chairman James Brayshaw has urged all members to vote for a stable Board that will contribute to the ongoing success of the club.

“We, as a board, very strongly endorse the two incumbent Board members who are up for re-election. Will Houghton is a Queen’s Counsel; a four year Director of the club and an unbelievable legal mind who has helped the club enormously over his four years as director.

“He has represented the AFL before and as a QC it’s obvious the benefits Will bring to the North Melbourne Board are extremely valuable.

“Julie Laycock is a lady who I personally recruited to the Board at the end of this season. We need people who can sell, we need to market this club and we need to start aggressively selling the story of North Melbourne to people in all the places we’ve discussed.

“Julie is the head of marketing at 7-Eleven, one of Australia’s most progressive companies. The skill set Julie and Will bring to the North Melbourne Football Club are vitally important. We need to get our people to understand that the reason these Directors are important to us is that they bring a skill set that we badly need.

“If you ask me what I want to have happen, it’s that I want those two to remain on our Board because they are elite people who are very important to us.”

North Melbourne will hold its AGM on December 15, 2011.
