1. Anthony from long range
Shaun Atley’s run off half-back has been outstanding recently and he was again the instigator for this early goal.
The number 18 strides out of defence and delivers a pin-point pass onto the chest of the leading Drew Petrie. The vice-captain quickly dishes a handball to Liam Anthony who, seeing the space in front of him, opts to bomb long on his left foot to Robbie Tarrant.
Instead of flying for the mark, Tarrant bodies his opponent and allows the ball to roll through the goals.
2. Thomas goal
As North looks to put the exclamation point on an already handy lead, Anthony is again involved. He hits the pack hard deep in the forward line at the start of the third term, before cleverly tapping the ball to the favour of Lindsay Thomas.
While the difficulty level wasn’t as high as his 50 metre effort against the Blues two weeks earlier, Thomas’ snap from the pocket is like threading the eye of a needle and brings the crowd to its feet.
3. Harvey’s torpedo
Rarely seen in today’s game, Brent Harvey’s torpedo onto the chest of Ryan Bastinac brought about a huge roar from the crowd.
The veteran spotted his team-mate in space on the wing and realising the distance of the kick, knew exactly the way to cover the distance.
4. Petrie contested mark
Barely able to find a yard all day due to the tight checking of James Frawley, Petrie’s final quarter grab was a sight to behold.
While it’s still unknown how the North vice-captain managed to pull it down under such immense pressure, it’s something Kangaroos’ fans have become used to.
5. End to end goal
Running out of defence and with little to kick to, Jamie Macmillan is forced to kick to the advantage of Todd Goldstein who marks against the smaller Brent Moloney.
North’s 49-point lead with only minutes to play could have seen it content with the margin, but Andrew Swallow pushes to yet another contest and receives a handball.
The captain burns off a tackler, before kicking long in the direction of Lindsay Thomas. Against a bigger, stronger opponent in James Sellar, he manages uses his body perfectly to get position, takes a mark and runs into an open goal.
