Till the bitter end
The recruiting contingents of most clubs, including senior coaches, diminished noticeably on Friday: the last day of camp. All except for Melbourne anyway, which still had Dean Bailey on hand to get as much information as possible before a draft his club will be a big player in.
What's it gonna take?
Seen chatting were Kinnear Beatson of the Sydney Swans and Steve Woodhouse of West Coast. Trying to grease the wheels of the stalled Mark Seaby trade perhaps?
Choco by name, choco by nature
Port Adelaide coach Mark Williams met with a colleague at the AIS café for an interview. His beverage of choice? Hot chocolate, of course.
The Hulkster's got nothing on him
Andrew Hooper surprised many a recruiter with his impressive scores in a number of tests. The North Ballarat Rebel is a stocky 172cm defender, but he was second in the agility test, third-fastest over 20m and recorded the equal third-highest vertical leap to earn the camp's 'Hulk Hogan' award.
But I don't even have a steady income … yet
Anthony Morabito and Anthony Delborello were left holding the can for some missing table tennis bats. Plenty of the boys amused themselves for hours on the table, but someone forgot to take the bats back to reception at the agreed time, leaving the Perth lads to do some fast talking to get their bond back.
GAWWWWNNNN!
Big Sandringham Dragons ruckman Max Gawn made quite a splash at the camp where he became the tallest participant in its history. At 206.8cm, he's a touch shorter than Aaron Sandilands, but the big purple giant didn't make it to the camp when he was knee-high to a giraffe.
I've seen enough…
The 3km time trial was the final test of the camp, but judging by the amount of recruiting staff seen at the airport while the hopefuls were slogging it out, it's fair to say they weren't hanging out to see who came in first.
