1997
In: Shannon Grant, Pick 27 (Brad Stephens)
Out: Wayne Schwass (Sydney)
In one of the highest profile trades in club history, Wayne Schwass departed at the end of 1997 after 10 years and 184 games. Losing such a integral piece meant North was always going to seek equal quality in return.
Shannon Grant was the answer and from the outset, he picked up where Schwass left off. He played more than 240 games for the club, winning a Norm Smith medal and a premiership along the way.
North also received pick 27 and used it on Brad Stephens who only played two games in a short career.
