Majak Daw’s six goals led the way for North Melbourne in the Dream Team world this week, with the forward scoring 128 points.

While his score was impressive, a price rise of more than $58,000 will be what was more appreciated by coaches. Now with his overall price at almost $200,000 and a breakeven significantly in the negatives, Daw is in position to be the most valuable cash cow in the competition over the next fortnight.

Just one point behind Daw was Todd Goldstein with 127. In theory, the emergence of Daw to spend time as a second ruckman could have taken away some of Goldstein’s scoring power but it has worked the other way.

With Goldstein fresher, he is able to cover the ground much better and also float forward, as was shown by his two goals in the last quarter against the Bulldogs. He is another whose price will continue to increase and can be locked in as a premium ruck, barring injury.

Jack Ziebell notched his second century of the season and it was no coincidence it resulted in a North win. In Ziebell’s career, he has gone past 100 on eight occasions. Six of the eight have been wins to the Kangaroos.

Aaron Black has flown under the radar in Dream Team, but is proving to be a handy acquisition. Averaging more than 76 points a game this season, Black’s first price rise was $43,700. Much like Daw, Black’s breakeven this week is also in the negative, ensuring another significant increase in value.

At the other end of the scoring scale, Daniel Wells was the starting substitute. It meant just the 18 points but for coaches looking ahead, it could be a blessing in disguise.

With Wells’ workload being managed, he should be fresh for the next couple of weeks. As a consequence of his low score against the Bulldogs, his price will continue to drop for the next fortnight. For those with patience, Wells could have dropped into the mid-price range by then, making him a very intriguing proposition.
