The 200-club
North Melbourne coach Brad Scott and club champion Barry Cable have achieved more than most in football.
The league has elected to add playing, coaching and umpiring records, meaning a total of 59 former players and coaches now qualify.
Scott played 168 games for Hawthorn and Brisbane between 1997 and 2006 and has coached 89 games at North Melbourne.
The rugged defender played in two premierships at the Lions.
Cable, a two-time premiership player, played 115 games for the Kangaroos and coached on 76 occasions. He also represented Western Australia 20 times and Victoria once.
Small in stature, Cable was described as a football giant in a 168 centimetre, 75 kilogram package. He was handed Legend status in the AFL’s Hall of Fame in 2012.
A member of the 1996 premiership side, Dean Laidley boasts a combined playing/coaching record of 300 games between West Coast and the Kangaroos.
Jock McCorkell, who played 167 games in the 1950’s, before coaching for two seasons was another addition to the club, as was former team-mate Keith McKenzie, who played 130 games, before coaching at both North and Carlton.
Keith Forbes was also included having represented North in 31 of his 187 games, before coaching 36 matches between 1938-1939.
Alan Killigrew, who had a distinguished coaching career after playing 78 times for St Kilda was another inclusion, as was Paddy Scanlan.
Killigrew coached the Kangaroos on 70 occasions between 1963 and 1966, while North was the third club Scanlan coached (54 games).
Grant Thomas also played seven games for North Melbourne in 1984.
