With just eight games remaining, finding the right chemistry will be vital to North’s chances of playing finals.
At seven wins and seven losses, every game is a must-win.
An impressive victory against the Cats will mean little unless the Roos can notch back-to-back wins. Without their vice-captain Drew Petrie, missing through suspension, that becomes a difficult task.
So who gets the call-up? Does North stick with three talls, or opt for a different approach against the Bombers.
NMFC.com.au looks at those in contention for a call-up.
Have your say on the potential changes below.
Forwards
Majak Daw and Aaron Black are the most likely replacements for Petrie if North opts to stick with a three-pronged setup.
Mason Wood stands at 192 centimetres but he generally plays a lead-up forward rather than a third tall.
In all but one of his games in 2015, Wood has played as the fourth forward – the exception being the Round 8 clash against Fremantle.
Black was a standout for the Roosters last week with three goals, while Daw struggled at Werribee, but he should be excused for having one quiet game given his strong form all year.
Lindsay Thomas will be awaiting his opportunity after a solid showing at VFL level, while Robin Nahas is eager to get back in after being a late withdrawal last week with hamstring soreness.
The form of Taylor Garner and Kayne Turner against the Cats could make it difficult to break back in though.
Midfielders
If North is searching for some elite kicking going inside 50, Brad McKenzie could be the man.
The left-footer has been in a purple patch of form over the past fortnight, finding plenty of the ball and using it effectively.
Trent Dumont didn’t register huge numbers but is in the mix having had a full match, while rookie Will Fordham could make his debut.
Defenders
It’s hard to see any of the Roos’ defenders being replaced, but Luke McDonald is edging closer to a return after being the match-day emergency last week.
Lachlan Hansen (hip) missed last week and would no doubt be welcomed back if available to play.
