Key backman Griffin Logue will miss North Melbourne's home game against Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Sunday due to a hamstring issue.

The 26-year-old felt his hamstring tighten during Saturday's final quarter against the Western Bulldogs, and subsequent scans showed a minor strain.

North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said Logue was on track for a fast recovery after an "impressive running session" on Tuesday.

"He is feeling good and will hopefully continue to trend positively over the remainder of this week," White said.

Fellow defender Charlie Comben will need to prove his fitness if he's to line up on Sunday.

Comben was hampered by a foot sprain in Saturday's fourth term, but has been able to bounce back quickly.

"The foot sprain caused swelling ... and an inability for Charlie to return to play," White said.

"He had good function and completed a straight-line running session on Tuesday morning. He will look to tick off his availability to play at the back end of the week."

George Wardlaw and Josh Goater are three-to-four weeks away from returns as they work their way back from hamstring injuries.

"George has been really impressive with the block of work laid down [for him], particularly over the past fortnight," White said.

"He'll integrate into main group skills over the course of this week and then do a high-loading footy conditioning session on the weekend.

"Josh has turned a corner with his injury and is ticking off significant markers while building into some high-quality intensity of conditioning.

"He'll look to progress into main group skills next week and then all going well, we'll put him through multiple high-loading weeks of training and strength to prepare for games and the season ahead."

Brayden George (knee) is currently participating in most group training drills apart from match sim play.

He'll undergo re-tests over the upcoming weeks to assess his ability to enter unrestricted training.

Callum Coleman-Jones (Achilles) is making positive inroads with his re-conditioning and is now progressing into more football-specific conditioning work.

The ruck-forward is still slated to return around the May to June period.
