AFL Fantasy is back for another season, and the team at Footy Prophet will again be supplying NMFC.com.au with premium fantasy analysis and tips for the 2015 season.

A night that ultimately ended in disappointment for North fans brought mixed results for fantasy coaches.

The Kangaroos' round 3 clash with Port Adelaide had everything you could want from a game of footy – big hits, exciting dashes, and an edge-of-your-seat finish.

Arguably the biggest fantasy impact of the night came from a down night as Jack Ziebell was subbed out on just 7 points following a collision with Ollie Wines.

Ziebell launched himself at Wines in the first quarter to try and spoil a mark, but came off worse for wear and was given the red vest almost immediately.

After a big day out against the Brisbane Lions in Round 2, where he scored a massive total of 130 fantasy points, Ziebell was a popular option to trade in this week. Unfortunately another big score was not to be.

The good news is Ziebell is considered a chance to play this week against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

The midfielder's price in AFL Fantasy Classic has dropped to $465,000, lower than his starting price, so keep an eye on his value. He may be worth getting in, if you don’t have him already.

With Ziebell down, someone needed to step up and that man was none other than the skipper Andrew Swallow. He returned his best fantasy score of the year so far with 119 points coming from 30 disposals, eight clearances and ten tackles.

Todd Goldstein continue to show good form. He cracked the top with a score of 103 after racking up 49 hit-outs to go with 13 disposals and six tackles.

At $542,000 he doesn’t come cheap, but right now he is head and shoulders above every other ruckman in the competition. Our advice – get him, and get him now.

Ben Jacobs had a few things working against him on the night – he only got into the side as a late inclusion, and even then was named as the sub. But the silver lining of Ziebell’s injury was that he came on early and found plenty of the ball when he did.

With 30 dipsoals for the night, Jacobs equalled Swallow as North’s leading ball-getter, finishing with a healthy fantasy score of 93.

He’ll need to keep up the hard work to maintain his spot in the team as the likes of Ziebell, Daniel Walls and Nick Dal Santo come back into the side, but if he does he could prove a unique fantasy option.

One of North’s rising youngsters Mason Wood had an impressive game, collecting 19 disposals and kicking a goal. He also took five marks, laid four tackles and took three running bounces.

His fantasy score of 82 for the evening shows some promise, and his performance should keep him in the team for at least the next few weeks. He’s not an ideal option for salary cap based games, but could be worth a look in the draft-based game AFL Fantasy Elite.

Arguably the biggest highlight of the night was a great goal by big man Robbie Tarrant, who made his return to the top level after playing only a single game last year.

Tarrant spent most of his night as a key defender and was good in that role. He kept Justin Westhoff goalless and had 21 disposals of his own. A fantasy score of 80 is nothing to sneeze at from someone as low priced as he is.

At $166,000 in AFL Fantasy Classic, Ziebell is well worth considering.

Around the grounds
Friday night saw a fantasy favourite Dane Swan wind back the clock and rack up 144 points against St Kilda, his highest score in nearly a year.

While he won’t get scores like that as often as he used to, Swan's still a fantasy mastermind and even at $548,000 is worth every cent in AFL Fantasy Classic.

Saturday’s Battle of the Bridge saw some more big scores. not to mention a few incredible goals; Luke Parker’s incredible stumble and Isaac Heeney’s courage competed for goal of the day.

2012’s number one draft pick Lachie Whitfield was the big news of the day though with a massive fantasy score of 128.

Sunday’s match between Hawthorn and the Bulldogs saw captain Luke Hodge rack up 44 disposals, a club record, along with two goals to complete a massive fantasy score of 159 points, a career-high.

Hodge could’ve been forgiven for thinking he had biggest score of the round sewn up after that game, but then came Lachie Neale.

The Fremantle midfielder was dominant against the Eagles, as were the Dockers in general, racking up 99 points to half time and finishing the game with 162.

Both Hodge ($597,000) and Neale ($485,000) are fantasy gold – you could do a lot worse than to have them in your team.
