There's no Steven May and no Rory Thompson, but Adam Saad says the Suns have the cover to handle North’s key-forwards.

May was rubbed out for five weeks for his bump on Brisbane’s Stefan Martin, with a potential match-up against either Jarrad Waite or Drew Petrie now off the cards.

But Saad believes the absence of key players will only strengthen the Gold Coast group.

“We feel like we’ve got some depth to cover and whoever the players that come in we know they’re going to play their role,” he told the Suns’ website.

“But it’s going to be a back six collective - it’s going to be a group thing.

“We have to help each other out and if we can play as one on the day, I think it will go a long way as well to winning the game or coming close to it.”

Saad could be tasked with the job on one of the Roos’ smaller forwards, with the likes of Lindsay Thomas, Brent Harvey and Jack Ziebell all spending time in the front half this season.

“Whatever role Rocket or the coaches give me I’m more than happy to do,” he added.

“If it’s to shut down or do whatever I’m happy. We’ve just got to play the foundation footy and the brand we know we can play and just bring it up to North this week.”
