They say stats don’t lie, and the stats show that Daniel Wells has had a boom start to the 2016 season.
After missing a large chunk of the last two seasons Wells has proved to be a valuable addition to the Roos side, and Fox Footy have taken a closer look at the numbers.
Wells leads the AFL in score assists, averaging 3.5 per match, while he’s ahead of all others at the club when it comes to inside 50s, with 5.5 per match – seventh-best across the league.
It’s not just his offensive work that is impressive, with the club stalwart averaging 6.5 tackles per match, third-best at Arden St and 17th best in the AFL.
“In a side that’s kicked more points than anyone else in 2016, he’s the No. 1 ranked player in the AFL for score assists after Round 4,” Fox Footy’s Adam Baldwin wrote.
“The club added Hawk Jed Anderson to provide the dash and polish it requires to take the next step, but it’s Wells filling the brief so far in 2016.”
And Gerard Healy predicted Kangaroos' fans would be excited to see Wells playing consistent footy.
“They’ve got to get a little bit of x-factor back into the side and he is that man,” Healy said.
Could Wells be difference for @NMFCOfficial in '16? He's put together an incredible month https://t.co/k0WnlpMsKM pic.twitter.com/v9y0yOxKdP
