It was a player’s day off at Aegis Park on Thursday but it seems some didn’t get the memo.

In teeming rain and soggy conditions underfoot, Scott Thompson, Jack Ziebell and Ben Warren were spotted on the oval getting in some extra goal-kicking practice.

It’s true sign of their commitment and desire to improve as players on the eve of the club’s next practice match.

Backing up from Wednesday’s main training session, which also included weights, the Kangaroos’ players cast lonely figures at the far end of the oval as they lined up the big sticks from every angle imaginable.

Thompson was the designated ball-collector for his team-mates being the defender in the group, but didn’t let the chance slip to try his luck when a goal kicking competition was suggested.

It’s understood the backman held his own, even with a water logged Sherrin, but wasn’t quite good enough to beat Jack Ziebell.
