An excellent recent history in Tasmania is in North Melbourne's favour as it seeks to overcome premiership fancy Greater Western Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

The Kangaroos were defeated by nine points against eventual Grand Finalists Sydney at Blundstone Arena late last year, but had won their previous eight games at the venue.

North enters the clash as the underdog against a side coming off a 102-point thrashing of Gold Coast last weekend.

Roos captain Jack Ziebell told reporters at Arden Street on Friday that some wind and rain wouldn't hurt his team's chances.

"We love Tassie, Tassie's awesome. We've had a pretty strong record down there and hopefully we can continue that," Ziebell said.

"If the weather comes in fairly average, I think that will suit us. We're a pretty contested footy side and we'll try and use that to our advantage.

"The Giants are quality opposition, they've got star power on all lines and that's something we'll have to try and quell."

As of Friday afternoon, the temperature was expected to hit 23 degrees in Hobart on Saturday with a chance of showers.

Ziebell will play game No. 150 in a career that started when he was drafted with the ninth selection in 2008. The 26-year-old replaced Andrew Swallow as captain last December, a role director of coaching Darren Crocker told AFL.com.au Ziebell had been destined for.

“From the day Jack walked in, he was a guy who had a fair presence around the place and has probably always been considered a captain-in-waiting, but he's needed his football to support that," Crocker said.

"It took a little while for him to get that consistency. He had a few suspensions, a bad broken leg … and that stopped him getting that continuity, where his footy could flourish, before rightfully taking over that captaincy."

For Ziebell, reaching the milestone has come quicker than he expected.

"I remember starting at the footy club nine years ago and listening to a couple of the older guys say 'make sure you enjoy it because it goes bloody quick'," he said.

"You sit there and laugh and say 'look at you, you're a bit older than me' and obviously you've got a bit of time left, but you blink and you're nine years in and 150 games down. It does go very, very quickly."
