It looms as a crucial weekend for several North players hoping to prove their fitness and gain some vital 'touch' before the final practice match against Geelong.

Nathan Grima, Leigh Adams, Majak Daw and Ben Brown have all been named for Werribee and will take on Box Hill at Arden Street on Saturday - each nearing full fitness coming off interrupted pre-seasons.

Daw played limited game-time against Hawthorn last Friday and will be looking to increase his participation and intensity following a knee reconstruction while Brown needs more conditioning after nursing a troublesome foot through summer.

For Grima, it's all about getting his back right while Adams is recovering from a minor knee procedure.

With the clash against Geelong just a week away, there's little time to impress Brad Scott and the match committee.

For the likes of Levi Greenwood, Mason Wood and Taylor Hine, the VFL hit-out will be an opportunity to perform well and push their names up at the selection table.

Rookies Tim McGenniss and Kayne Turner will continue their development under the tutelage of new Tigers' coach John Lamont and development coaches Ben Dyer, Gavin Brown and Jarred Moore while Eric Wallace will jump across from North Ballarat to carry the ruck load.

It's unclear whether Box Hill will throw talented small forward Dayle Garlett into the mix when footy returns to Arden Street.
