Off-season recruit Libby Birch has been locked in to make her North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos debut in Sunday's AFLW season opener against Brisbane at Brighton Homes Arena.

The defender has had to deal with an MCL injury this pre-season, but has overcome the issue in time to be available for the trip to Queensland.

Vikki Wall, who returns after missing last season to pursue an Olympic opportunity with Ireland, is on the extended interchange and is a chance to play her first game since 2022 Season 7's preliminary final against Melbourne.

Midfielder Mia King and defender Nicole Bresnehan are expected to line up for their 50th League appearances, while captain Emma Kearney and tall forward Emma King are in line to reach 75 AFLW games.

From the side that represented the club in last season's decider, Lulu Pullar (calf) and Eliza Shannon (ankle) are unavailable for selection, while Jenna Bruton (Achilles) is still working her way back from injury.

North Melbourne's team will be finalised on Friday afternoon at 5pm AEST.
