NORTH Melbourne is hailing its special Good Friday training session a massive success after a huge turnout of fans at Arden Street.

Thousands of supporters were given the chance to watch the young side train for the final time ahead of the round two match against St Kilda on Saturday night, with players devoting time to sign autographs and hand out thousands of Easter eggs.

"The amount of people down here shows there are lots of fans who want to watch AFL on Good Friday," North midfielder Liam Anthony said during a media conference.

"North Melbourne would love to play for premiership points on Good Friday but whether that happens or not is up to Andrew Demetriou and the AFL. We think there is definitely a spot for a game on this day."

The club mascot entertained hundreds of young Kangaroos supporters during the light skills session while the players kept their focus on the Saints on the track.

"They're (St Kilda) obviously a top side and we will take a lot out of our win against them late last year but both sides are completely different. There's no Justin Koschitzke for them or Drew Petrie for us, Lenny Hayes is back in and we don't have Levi Greenwood who shut down Nick Dal Santo, so it's going to be tough.

"Brad (Scott) has given us a lot of confidence since coming to the club and really backs us to take the game on. We have a young midfield but we think we can mix it with the best in the competition including the Saints."

Anthony says the Kangaroos will take a lot out of Sydney's battle with St Kilda last week.

"We've had a look at that game but we've also looked back at our own match against Port Adelaide and have been able to identify a lot of areas that needed adjusting and improving. We feel confident going into the match."
