Brad McKenzie's brief stint
Brad McKenzie will be looking to make his first VFL stint a short one.
Omitted from the senior side after playing the first seven games of the year, McKenzie returns to bolster a midfield which had been weakened by the departure of Andrew Swallow.
McKenzie will form a dangerous trio with Ben Jacobs and Liam Anthony in the centre of the ground.
Jacobs in particular has been in blistering form, collecting 71 possessions in his past two games. Against a Frankston side still searching for its first win, he will most likely come under attention.
The last time North Ballarat played Frankston, the Dolphins were penalised for having 19 men on the ground. Their score was eventually wiped clean, meaning what was initially a thrilling three point win to the Roosters, became a percentage boosting 41-point victory.
Meanwhile for Werribee, Ben Brown will play his first game of the season after recovering from a knee injury. Against a depleted Sandringham backline, Brown will play limited game time.
With a possible late call up of Tom Simpkin to the St Kilda senior team, Mason Wood is every chance to continue his recent goal kicking form. With seven goals in his last two games, the second year player is forcing his name up to the selection committee.
Sandringham is currently sitting third on the ladder, which means Tim McGenniss has plenty of options on who to tag. One of the competition’s better taggers, his role could have a major say in whether Werribee closes to within half a game of Sandringham.
With Tom Hickey injured and Billy Longer now playing for the Saints, Daniel Currie will have an advantage in the ruck against American, Jason Holmes.
