At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.

This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

Here is the case for each of the players in the running for the votes from North’s loss against the Swans, in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, then you can have your say.

Nick Dal Santo – NMFC

Dal Santo was one of North’s best early on when it was battling to firstly stay in the match, and then working back into it. He finished with 31 disposals and two goals.

Dan Hannebery – Sydney

Arguably Sydney’s most consistent midfielder from siren to siren, Hannebery’s key moments came at crucial times, like his last quarter goal to give Sydney a match-winning edge.

Brent Harvey – NMFC

In his 430th game, Harvey was everywhere. 32 disposals, six marks, five tackles and three goals was his final return as he almost pulled North back into the lead late.

Josh Kennedy – Sydney

Kennedy’s trademark work in close propelled Sydney forward on numerous occasions, whether it was through his own clearances or clever work around the stoppages without taking possession. The Swan finished with 28 disposals and seven clearances.

Luke Parker – Sydney

Parker was immense in the first quarter, collecting 16 disposals. While he only had 15 in the final three terms, his influence when Sydney built what would turn out to be a match winning lead could earn votes.

Robbie Tarrant – NMFC

Once again Tarrant convincingly won his head-to-head matchup, this week against Lance Franklin. Even allowing for the Swan’s temporary absence due to a hip complaint, Tarrant still kept him to just one behind and nine disposals.

Daniel Wells – NMFC

On a day where North struggled to make the most of its forward entries, Wells’ poise stood out. His 31 disposals included seven inside 50’s and several score assists.
