Despite a much-improved showing in round four against Adelaide, David Noble and the match committee could look to make a number of changes heading into round five, with North Melbourne continuing the search for its first win of the season.

A handful of AFL-listed players have put their hands up for senior selection, following a one-point win against Port Melbourne in the VFL, with a number of impressive performances catching the eye.

With Luke McDonald (pec) and Cam Zurhaar (concussion) all but ruled out for this weekend’s clash with Geelong, North Media looks at who is in the frame for selection.

Atu Bosenavulagi and Connor Menadue were mountains in the VFL defence, as their intercept marking and run off half-back not only started countless attack for North, but also frustrated Port’s forwards.

In the absence of Tom Campbell, Tristan Xerri took on primary rucking duties. Impressive with his tap work, Port also couldn’t find an answer for β€˜X’ as he drifted forward and booted three goals, with his ability to crash packs and hold contested marks catching the eye in wet conditions.

The wind and rain turned the midfield battle into a tight and scrappy contest for much of the game. Dom Tyson provided experience and class on a difficult day for the midfielders, and had little trouble finding the football.

In his first game back from concussion, Curtis Taylor provided a lively outlet up forward and kicked a quality goal from the boundary to remind on-lookers of his quality.

Matt McGuinness and Will Walker stood up late in the game, as McGuinness kicked two second half goals while Walker popped up with a clever snap to seal the game.

Taylor Garner was lively and provided leadership in the forward line, as he shook off the corky he suffered in last week’s VFL loss to Footscray.

Eddie Ford provided a consistent target in the forward-line and was impressive in his efforts to bring his teammates into the game.
