A move up the ground could be the key to prolonging the career of Jarrad Waite.
The veteran forward has enjoyed his new role on the wing and says it’s added another string to his bow.
“I’m not just a one dimensional player,” Waite said on AFL Today.
“I just want to be playing good football and whether that’s on a wing or in the forward line, that doesn’t faze me.”
Waite’s shift from the forward line has given the likes of Ben Brown, Majak Daw and Mason Wood more opportunity, but not at his own detriment.
Out of contract at the end of the season, North's number 30 said discussions about playing on are yet to begin.
“Whatever happens, happens,” Waite said.
“I’d love to play on, but it’s probably not my decision at this stage.”
The 34-year-old has played 229 career games, including 45 at North.
“I just want to be playing football, and if that’s here that would be great,” he said.
“Would I look at going elsewhere? Probably not.”
Waite sat out North’s last match against Fremantle, but he hopes to be back sooner rather than later.
“I don’t like giving in and I don’t let injuries put me on the back foot.”
