Meagan Kiely, Kate Greenacre and Molly Eastman were the North standouts in a 53-point loss against the Casey Demons.
The Demons started the game brightly, kicking three early goals and catching North’s side off-guard. The Roos had their best period during the second quarter but were unable to reduce the margin any closer than 18 points.
VFLW coach Cheyne Webster said the game was a great learning experience for North’s young side on how to apply themselves for the full four quarters.
“Our effort as a group in previous weeks has been really consistent. This week, we were in and out of the game effort wise,” Webster told North Media.
“Casey were able to control the game and play it on their terms.”
Of the AFLW-listed players, Beth Lynch and Katelyn Cox continue to impress. Lynch finished with an impressive 13 disposals, 4 marks and 4 tackles.
“Both Beth and Katelyn continue to work hard at VFLW level and I’m confident if the opportunity arose they could play a role at AFLW level in the coming weeks.”
Kiely, the Roos' captain, continued her good form with 20 disposals, to go with 6 tackles.
“Meagan is in really great form at the moment, which is a credit to her,” Webster said.
“We just need more consistent contributors to share the load the skipper is carrying.”
Following the loss, Webster said he was confident of a quick turnaround in the team's fortunes.
“We are on the right path, but we will continue to be tested by some quality teams – our efforts need to be better across four quarters now.”
