North member Anthony Igri almost decided against making the trip from his hometown Wangaratta to Etihad for the game against the Demons. Feeling under the weather, it was his 11-year old son Brandon who convinced him to go and it proved to be one of the best decisions he’s ever made.

The father of two became the lucky winner of a brand new Mazda BT-50 and took the brand new Ute home after a one in ten chance.

“On Friday night I wasn’t feeling too well and didn’t think I would make it to the game but my son Brandon didn’t want to miss it,” Igri told kangaroos.com.au.

“We don’t get along to many games during the season because it is a seven hour round trip from Wangaratta but after having such a good time at the Carlton game, Brandon didn’t want to miss this week.

“I’m so glad he encouraged me to drive us down because I had no idea what a good day it was going to be.”

Members who attended the most games throughout the season had the greatest chance, with ten supporters drawn from those who scanned their membership at Saturday's game.

The lucky members were given a key to try their luck opening the Mazda BT-50 at half-time. After the first eight members failed to open the door, Anthony knew he was in with a good chance but still couldn’t believe his luck when he put his key in the door.

Mazda’s BT-50 tagline ‘more is more’ ringing true for the loyal supporter.

“I remember my hands were shaking uncontrollably and I just couldn’t believe it when it opened. I’ve never won anything like that in my life and these sorts of things don’t happen to me.

“I got Brandon to ring my wife Michelle and daughter Tayla straight away but we had to put one of the North Melbourne staff on the phone because she didn’t believe us when we told her the great news.”

Anthony and Brandon went back to their seats to watch the rest of the Kangaroos 54-point win over Melbourne, however they could hardly contain their excitement and even got a bit confused about which team they were supporting.

“I think I was in such a state of shock that at one point I celebrated a Melbourne goal. Thankfully it was a good day all round with a great win for North Melbourne and on a personal level I couldn’t be happier.

“I’ve been a member for 19-years and love supporting my club, so to receive something like this is just unbelievable. I would like to thank everyone at North Melbourne, James Brayshaw and especially Mazda for this amazing prize.”
