Swallow into top ten
Andrew Swallow is held in the highest regard at North Melbourne, but the wider footballing world is starting to stand up and take notice of the captain’s feats.
32 disposals and a remarkable 17 tackles was enough to earn Swallow the top votes from the coaches, and with that springboard him into tenth place in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.
It was the fourth time in as many weeks, and the 11th time this season Swallow has polled votes, and leaves him well clear of his nearest team-mate Daniel Wells (40 votes).
Meanwhile, Sam Gibson in just his seventh game gained praise for his performance. The mature-age recruit amassed 36 possessions and laid 4 tackles to register eight votes.
Todd Goldstein’s 22 touches and 48 hit-outs were enough to post four votes, while Ryan Bastinac polled three with 29 disposals and a goal.
Games-record holder Brent Harvey has been in a rich vein of form and caught the eye of the coaches for the third time in a month with his 30 possession, 2 goal effort. Ben Cunnington was also among the votes.
