North Melbourne has selected former Port Adelaide player Ben Jacobs with its second pick.

AFL.com.au: Originally recruited by Port Adelaide with pick No.16 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, the defender sparked significant interest when he announced he wanted to return to Victoria. After 26 games in two seasons, the left footer departed Port Adelaide with no compensation when atrade couldn't be arranged. Has made a steady start to his career, averaging 16 disposals a game, and his future appears bright.

Bryce Lewis: We really liked Ben in his draft year a couple of years ago and we were fortunate that Shaun Atley slipped through. So we’ve been across Ben for a long time now and our list manager Cameron Joyce and Brad Scott have done a lot of work.

When he announced he wanted to come back to Melbourne we thought it was a really good fit for us to enhance our midfield. He offers something a bit different and he’s still under 20 years of age so it fits in our philosophy of bringing in young talent. It’s always nice when a player wants to come to your club.
