North Melbourne has appointed former Swan Jarred Moore as a development coach.

Moore will have a hands on role at the Kangaroos, working closely with the club's younger players and will also play alongside them at Werribee.

"We're really excited to have Jarred join our club as a coach and player with one of our VFL aligned teams," chief of football Donald McDonald said.

"He is only recently out of the game and his experience as a leader at Sydney stood out. The knowledge and perspective he can bring to our coaching department will be invaluable."

Moore's role will compliment that of former Lion and recently appointed development coach Josh Drummond.

"Jarred will do a great deal of work with our young forwards and Werribee aligned players, alongside Josh who will assist our defenders and players connected to North Ballarat.

"Together we believe Jarred and Josh will be great assets and our players will learn a huge amount from them."

Moore played 68 games for Sydney between 2005 and 2011 after being taken at pick 31 in the 2004 National Draft.

Despite playing no senior games in 2012, the 26-year old was an integral part of Sydney's leadership group througout its recent premiership season.
