The North Melbourne Football Club formally entered a long-term regional partnership with the City of Ballarat this morning, with CEO Eugene Arocca signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Ballarat Mayor Cr Judy Verlin.

Under the MOU, Council and the North Melbourne Football Club commit to a partnership that supports football at both the elite and grass roots level in line with the strategies and activities of both organisations.

The MOU outlines an agreed program of services that will ensure Ballarat features strongly as one of North Melbourne Football Club’s community partners.

Ballarat Mayor Cr Judy Verlin said the MOU was an exciting step for Council and the Ballarat community.

“This is a partnership that recognises the complementary role of Local Government in developing sports and culture at a local level.

“We look forward to a constructive and rewarding relationship with the North Melbourne Football Club that will have a range of benefits for the City of Ballarat.”

North Melbourne Football Club CEO Eugene Arocca said the club was committed to increasing participation in football and promoting the City of Ballarat.

"This regional community partnership is unique and innovative and we see a substantial range of benefits for Ballarat and for the North Melbourne Football Club."

The agreed program includes a Ballarat Community Camp, Country Visit Day, player ambassadors, Learning Life Centre programs and promotional activities including the Eureka Game.

The MOU also outlines a commitment by the North Melbourne Football Club to work towards increasing the presence of AFL football in Ballarat.
