North Melbourne’s presence in Ballarat has already galvanised substantial local support, according to local supporter group founder Kelly Dubberley.

The Ballarat Supporter Group has re-formed with the aim of creating a stronghold in the Kangaroos’ regional home.

“With the club’s commitment to Ballarat over the past couple of years it is the perfect time to get the group up and going again,” Dubberley said.

“The Eureka game has been a great initiative and has got a lot of people’s support and attention, especially the older people in the area who really value the Eureka spirit. Combined with the community camps and the intra-club games there is every reason for North supporters in the area to get on board.”

“At North’s peak in the late nineties we had around a hundred members. This time around we are aiming for significantly more than that.”

North Melbourne Chief Executive Eugene Arocca recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the City of Ballarat with an aim to bring more AFL football to the region and further develop a relationship between the two parties.
