Members are the lifeblood of every football club. This is especially true in the case of North Melbourne, which could have faced a very different future if it wasn’t for the efforts of its loyal membership base in late 2007.

With that in mind, the efforts of more than 33,500 members to sign up in 2012 has provided a massive boost and the club is now thriving.

After three seasons around the 30,000 mark, an increase of more than 10 per cent on 2011 (30,332) in the total membership numbers has coincided with great results on the field.

The football department is gearing up for a sustained period of success and the members are in for the long haul with North's 'Troo Roo for Life' program increasing by more than 20 percent on 2011.

Signing up to the 'Troo Roo for Life' program is the easiest way to remain a member as all the hassle is taken out of the equation; your membership automatically rolls over each year.

More and more members have attended North's home games too. In 2011 there was an increase of almost 15 per cent and in 2012 it has increased by a further 10 per cent.

However, while all these numbers are impressive and a sure sign things are tracking well up, the most impressive number lies in the amount of new members signing up in 2012.

While there was a relatively small increase of around 5 per cent from 2010 to 2011, the numbers exploded this season. There has been an increase of 20 per cent in new members this season; a big reason why North has experienced its second highest membership tally in history.

In a sign of North’s ability to reach people far and wide, almost 10,000 members are from outside Victoria.

The reserved seating categories on Level 2 have been a big hit as the Premiership Club and Schimmelbusch Platinum categories continue to grow. It's anticipated the areas on the level will be close to capacity and the remaining reserved seat categories will continue to grow as well.

In a recurring trend, the Tasmanian reserved seats will also be a hot ticket. With only a limited number available, they're sure to fly out the door when the 2013 membership campaign begins in mid October.

Round 18 is Member Appreciation Game. Members who attend the game have a chance to win a Mazda BT-50.
