25 students from St Michael’s Primary School in North Melbourne gathered in the club's community classroom for a fun-filled day which focused around storytelling, and Macmillan was the guest of honour.
The enthusiastic kids asked Jamie about everything from his journey to becoming a footballer at North Melbourne, to his life and family outside of his profession.
“Dad made sure I started kicking the footy as soon as I could walk and then when I was older I started Auskick and moved on from there,” Macmillan told the class.
“I grew up as an Essendon supporter and my favourite player was Adam Ramanauskas who overcame a lot of adversity in his career. I’ve always admired him, and now he manages me.”
Nine year-old Martine Domingue from Ascot Vale said the question time with Jamie was the best part of her experience at The Huddle.
“It was lots of fun to meet a real football star. I got to sit right next to Jamie,” Martine said.
“Everyone from my class enjoyed meeting him and doing all the other activities in the Huddle today.”
The Huddle’s classroom program runs throughout the year for local primary schools in the North Melbourne area with students from a diverse range of multicultural backgrounds.
