At the end of the season the top moment of 2012, as voted by supporters, will be played at the Syd Barker Medal.
5. Matt Campbell - Goal Assist
Early in the third quarter the margin was 20-points as North pushed forward. Surrounded by two Geelong players and tight on the boundary line, Matt Campbell took possession. He breaks a Corey Enright tackle, sidesteps Shannon Byrnes and delivers the ball deep into the forward 50 where Aaron Edwards marks and unselfishly handballs to Ryan Bastinac for the goal.
4. Ben Cunnington - Intercept
Geelong clears the ball from deep in its defence out to the 50 metre line where Ben Cunnington is outnumbered by James Kelly and Joel Corey. Kelly attempts to handball over the top to Corey, but Cunnington manages to get a hand on it to force the ball to ground. Cunnington, still out of position, somehow manages to swipe the ball from in between Kelly and Corey.
He gets the ball inside 50 where Jack Ziebell slams through a sensational goal.
3. Lindsay Thomas - Courage
Early in the second quarter, Geelong had kicked the first goal and looked to be making a charge. The ball was kicked high to the wing where Lindsay Thomas ran back with the flight of the ball at full speed. Getting a crucial fist on it and putting his body on the line, Thomas managed to get the ball out to Brent Harvey before the ball eventually fell to Leigh Adams who kicked a momentum-swinging goal.
2. Kieran Harper - Goal
With 4 minutes 30 left in the final quarter, Geelong had cut the margin back to just 17-points. Sticking to the game plan, North moved the ball through the centre with a series of rapid handballs. The sub Kieran Harper, receives it on the 50 metre line. With a simple sidestep he leaves Tom Gillies in his wake and steadies before drilling the sealing goal.
1. Jack Ziebell - Comeback
In his first game for the season, Ziebell showed why he's such an important part of the North Melbourne midfield. 27 possessions and four goals, including a 50 metre bomb from the boundary line in the dying minutes, left no-one with any doubt that Jack was indeed back.
