Scott: No return date for Wells
Brad Scott says he still doesn't know when Daniel Wells will be ready to play again but believes being restricted from contact at training won't disadvantage th
''Logic says the start of the season's up in the air, so whether he's available for round one or as late as round four or five, we just can't say,” Scott told The Age’s Emma Quayle.
Wells has been on blood-thinning medication since developing life-threatening clots in his lungs following post-season surgery, and although he’s in terrific shape, he will have to wait until just a fortnight before round one to ramp up his training load.
“(But) he can do a lot of non-contact drills now. He looks fantastic and it might work well for him.
''It's hard to measure how much it affects a player, when they're getting constantly knocked and bruised and contusions, all that sort of stuff.”
2011 was the best season of Wells’ career and the Kangaroos will be desperate to have him available as soon as possible.
''I think it's still largely an unknown for us, but he looks and feels really good right now," Scott added.
