Benefit of the doubt
Brad Scott says the benefit of the doubt should go to the attacking team in video review decisions
NORTH Melbourne coach Brad Scott has called for the benefit of the doubt to go to the attacking team in goal-review decisions.
Scott conceded the AFL had made it clear the lesser score would apply when the umpires were uncertain and the video review was inconclusive.
But he was philosophically opposed to this, saying video reviews of touched-off-the-boot decisions would invariably be inconclusive.

"I would prefer the favour went to the attacking team. If the umpires aren't sure then pay the goal, pay the team that's actually making the play," Scott said at Aegis Park on Thursday.
"(In) the (Todd) Goldstein example (in the round four North Melbourne-Sydney Swans game) the umpires were far from sure. There was a lot of discussion as to, 'I think it was touched, it might have been touched'.
"Just say you don't know … and make the call either way."
