Even at 34-years of age, only an early season indiscretion could stop Brent Harvey from receiving an invite to the Brownlow Medal, but it seems nothing can stop the little champion from adding to his amazing career tally of 155 votes.

That mark sees him 16th on the all-time list, and in a true sign of his consistency all but four of those players above him have taken home the prized medal.

10 votes - an achievement Harvey has passed on eight occasions during his career would take him alongside another North champion in Keith Greig as the club’s highest-ever vote winner.

And remarkably, only five players have recorded more best-on-ground performances throughout their careers; the names Gary Dempsey, Robert Harvey, Leigh Matthews, Chris Judd and Simon Black sit alongside Harvey as those considered the most influential, in the most games.

A match-winning performance against Essendon is deserving of Harvey’s 35th three-vote game, and it would be of no surprise if his name was called out more than once as the best on the day.

Harvey handed the captaincy to Andrew Swallow at the start of this year, and while he’s a long way shy of the number 29 with 34 career votes, the number 9 is sure to add to his tally on Monday night.

Swallow finished with 16 votes in 2011, and with more disposals, more tackles and perhaps more importantly a greater amount of wins for his side, is likely to poll strongly.

Drew Petrie caught the eye of the umpires last season and several bags of goals will hold him in good stead to add to his 41 career votes, while Daniel Wells is North’s next best with 39 over 9 seasons, a number he’ll be looking to increase.

At the other end of the scale in experience, Sam Gibson, Shaun Atley and Ben Cunnington are among those looking to gain recognition from the men in white for the first time.

Swallow and Petrie, as well as Ryan Bastinac and Scott Thompson are among those invited to the night, and while a fifth Brownlow Medal arriving at Aegis Park is considered an outside chance by the bookies, just receiving a vote in a race of 44 who take the field is a fine achievement in itself.
