Selection seems to get harder every week for caretaker coach Darren Crocker.

Without a win since Round 9, the Roos are desperately seeking the combination to get them over the line in Friday's match against Carlton, which will be former captain Adam Simpson's last as a player.

The Werribee Tigers come off a resounding win against North Ballarat last week, and several players will come into contention for selection this week.

Nathan Grima looks the most obvious inclusion after a strong performance in Werribee's win; being omitted from the Kangaroos' side didn't seem to phase the 23 year-old, as he grabbed 17 possessions and six tackles against the Roosters on Saturday.

Teammate Leigh Adams should also be in the running after a typical high possession game for the Tigers. The number 13 racked up 22 possessions, eight marks and five tackles in his team's win.

Fellow midfielder Daniel Harris will be looking to break back into the team in the coming weeks. With 147 games under his belt, the in-and-under ball winner needs just three more games to break the magical 150 barrier, and 20 possessions, seven tackles and three goals last week can only help his chances of a quick return.

2009 debutant Sam Wright had an impressive start to his career as a North Melbourne player; a knee injury and a battle for form in recent weeks the only thing stopping the youngster from a return. He had 15 possessions and kicked an exciting goal in Werribee's win last week, but may need some more good performances in the VFL to be considered.

It was a disappointing day for the Roosters on Saturday, but there were some positives for Kangaroos' supporters with good performances from some highly regarded players.

Daniel Pratt looked comfortable in defence and through the midfield, picking up 18 possessions and pumping the ball inside 50 on six occasions. The experience of Pratt could be a valuable asset against a dangerous Blues' forward line featuring the likes of Brendan Fevola and Brad Fisher.

Shannon Watt is another experienced option for Crocker; with 154 games to his name, the former first round pick could be exactly what the Roos' need to stop the flow of goals in defence. 18 possessions and four spoils put Watt right in the mix.

Midfielder Ed Lower must feel as if his chance is just around the corner, after several strong performances in succession. Lower had 28 possessions against Werribee, but most impressive was his hardness at the contested football; he picked up seven hard ball gets, and laid eight tackles in Saturday's match.

Promoted rookie Cruize Garlett was also impressive against the Tigers. He had 24 possessions and pumped the ball inside the attacking arc on four ocassions to stake his claim for a recall. It would be Garlett's first game since North Melbourne's Round 14 loss to Sydney.

The most prominent attacking options for Crocker look to be Josh Smith and Michael Wundke; both struggled for goals on the weekend, but 16 possessions to Smith and 15 to Wundke mean it's only a matter of time until they get their chance at the highest level.
