Each player’s personal circumstances will be carefully considered as North Melbourne embarks on a longer-than-expected stay in a Gold Coast hub.
An initial 32-day commitment is set to be increased to ten weeks, providing another challenge in an already unprecedented season.
“Our group is very understanding of the situation we’re all in and we understand that unfortunately for people in Victoria, they’re a lot worse off than what we are right now,” Jack Ziebell told North Media.
“Each individual player has got their own circumstances and different family issues and stuff they have to work through, but 'Shawry' (Rhyce Shaw) and Brady (Rawlings) and our club are really accommodating.
“By no means is any one player locked in to staying up here for the whole 60 days. If circumstances arise that they have to go home, then everyone’s more than happy to accommodate that, so its definitely a case-by-case scenario.”
Despite four straight defeats, Ziebell said the morale among the group had been positive and the focus was firmly on turning things around on Saturday night.
“For us to be able to continue what we’re doing is really nice,” he said.
“As a club I think our mindset's really positive ... we’re excited we get to keep playing footy.
“The messaging from myself and from the coach is that we just need to keep improving.
“Last week was a better showing I thought; our effort around the contest was really good, it was there, we just lacked a bit of execution in terms of our skills and definitely going inside our forward 50.
“We need to give our forwards every opportunity to be able to kick a goal and at the moment we’re probably shooting big 'Browny' (Ben Brown) in the foot a little bit with the way we’re going inside … but we’ve addressed that this week in the review and the training this week’s been outstanding.”
Ziebell is confident of making his return from a hamstring injury against Richmond.
