As the countdown continues to North Melbourne's last game at Blundstone Arena for 2013 against Port Adelaide, NMFC.com.au presents some interesting stats and facts relating to the two clubs.

  • North Melbourne has a 13-2 record against Port Adelaide in home games.

Overall North is 19-8 against Port Adelaide since its induction into the AFL in 1997.

  • Blundstone Arena will be the seventh ground where the two teams have met.

In the first game at each of the previous six grounds - the MCG, Etihad Stadium, AAMI Stadium, Visy Park, SCG and Manuka Oval; North has been the victors.

  • Todd Goldstein has played more matches against Port (eight) than any other club.
  • North won the first nine meetings against the Power and was undefeated until 2003.

Denis Pagan was coach for each of the nine wins before he left the Kangaroos.

  • Drew Petrie has nine goals across the last two meetings against Port Adelaide.

In 17 career games against the Power, Petrie has 22 total goals.

  • Coincidentally, North's highest ever score against Port - 21.14.140, came in the same year the Power won their first premiership.

Unsurprisingly the game also doubles as North's greatest winning margin in meetings between the two clubs, at 92 points in Round 8, 2004.

  • North has had trouble with Port Adelaide in finals past, losing its last two by a significant margin.

The two clubs have met in three total finals; the 1999 qualifying final (North by 44 points), 2005 elimination final (Port by 87 points) and 2007 preliminary final (Port by 87 points).

  • Three players hold the honours for the biggest individual goal kicking haul against the Power.

Wayne Carey (Qualifying Final 1999), Craig Sholl (Round 8 1997) and Kent Kingsley (Round 10, 1999) all booted six against the Power.

Among current players, Lachlan Hansen, Brent Harvey (twice) and Petrie have bags of five to their name.

  • Winston Abraham took mark of the year in 1998 against the Power at Manuka Oval.
  • More than a quarter of meetings between the two clubs (7/27) have been decided by 10 points or less.

Of those matches, North has won five and lost just two.
