North Melbourne midfielder Jordan Gysberts is eager for an opportunity at the highest level, but understands the hard work and consistency required to get there.

The 21-year-old has been one of Werribee’s most dependable players this season after making the switch from Melbourne, and is confident his time to shine will come sooner rather than later.

“I feel like I’m probably in career-best form in terms of my consistency at the moment so in that respect it’s been good,” Gysberts told NMFC.com.au.

“I’ve been going into a match with three main focuses…. my stoppage work, involvement and transition. I’ve been working closely with Jarred Moore (development coach) and Darren Crocker (assistant coach) in that regard, just viewing my game on those three points and looking closely to work on those three things.”

Gysberts has been named in the Tigers’ best on several occasions and will take positives from the fact his midfielder partner Levi Greenwood has been rewarded with a senior call-up this week.

“Levi’s been playing really well for Werribee and I really admire the way he goes about it and I really enjoy playing with him so it’s great to see him get a chance.

“Seeing him get a game is encouraging because I know how hard he works and it always makes you feel like your chance might not be too far away.”

This week there will be even more of a North flavour down at The Beehive with Robbie Tarrant and Majak Daw back in the side.

Tarrant has spent an extended spell on the sidelines with a leg injury, while Daw has the chance to prove himself after being withdrawn from the Kangaroos' lineup due to weather a fortnight ago.

“It helps having Robbie and Majak coming back for this game, they’ll be really good for us,” Gysberts added.

“We’ll certainly need the help of those bigger bodies and their experience. It’s a pretty North-focused midfield at the Tigers right now too when you’ve got me, Timmy (McGenniss), Crusher (Daniel Currie) and Jarred Moore in there which is really cool.”

Gysberts is preparing for a tough contest against the Hawks’ affiliate Box Hill, a match that looms as another opportunity for him to put his name in lights.

“We’ve won our last five games with Werribee so we’re going really well, but Box Hill are first on the ladder at the moment so it’s going to be a really big test for us.”

After making successful returns from injury last weekend, Currie and young gun Kieran Harper will be looking forward to getting another game under their belts, while Mason Wood, Ayden Kennedy and Ben Speight will hope to continue their recent good form. Will  Sierakowski will also be back into the side.

In Ballarat, the Roosters’ aligned players will be aiming to replicate last week’s spirited effort in their clash against Bendigo Gold.

Taylor Garner, Cam Delaney, Ben Mabon, Cam Richardson, Max Warren and Mitch Wilkins are among those who’ll line up at Eureka Stadium.
