Robbie Tarrant’s return could be fast-tracked after he was named in North’s squad for the clash against the Giants.

The key-forward played his first game back in the VFL on Saturday after almost two months on the sidelines, and while he played just 70 per cent game time he did enough to earn a call-up.

Tarrant is one of five who’ll be awaiting the naming of the final teams on Friday, with Ben Jacobs, Jordan Gysberts and Taylor Garner also included.

Jack Ziebell looks likely to come straight back into the team after three weeks on the sidelines through suspension.

Named as rover, the vice-captain expressed his excitement after the club’s main skills session.

“I’m super-pumped. With the three week suspension, it turned into four weeks with a bye. You can’t do much about that, I’ve been preparing away and finally get the opportunity to get back out there on Sunday. I’m ready to go."

Off-season recruits Jacobs and Gysberts have been in the best regularly for their respective VFL affiliates (North Ballarat and Werribee) and will be keen for an opportunity.

Garner’s inclusion in the squad was announced earlier in the day by coach Brad Scott.

At this stage, Liam Anthony and Sam Wright are the players to miss out, with the final look of the 22 still to be revealed.
