Young Kangaroo Josh Goater has had a setback on his road back from a ruptured Achilles tendon, suffering a hamstring injury during training.
The 21-year-old defender was set to integrate into match simulation this month, but must now wait an estimated six further weeks before making his playing return.
"Unfortunately Josh suffered a moderate grade hamstring injury in a training session during the week," North Melbourne's head physiotherapist Brenton Egglestone said.
Midfielder George Wardlaw is progressing well in his early stages of rehab from a high-grade hamstring injury.
Wardlaw, who is 7-9 weeks away from his return, is "ticking the boxes we require early in his rehabilitation," Egglestone said.
Meanwhile, defender Zac Fisher is approximately two weeks away from a return to play due to a hamstring strain and should join in some training drills next week.
Defender Brayden George faces a round of tests as he progresses towards a return from his ACL injury.
"He will undergo extensive testing in the next few weeks to ensure he is right to return to full main training program," Egglestone said. "He will then require a phase of conditioning with the group."
Forward-ruck Callum Coleman-Jones is gradually increasing his running loads and "tracking well" in his recovery from an Achilles injury, Egglestone said.
Coleman-Jones ruptured his Achilles in last year's Good Friday clash against Carlton and faced a setback later in the year.
