With the season opener against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium only a little more than a week away, the tough task of picking of narrowing the team down to 22 begins for Brad Scott and the match committee.

There were seven additions to the senior list over the summer; four of those seven being ready for AFL football immediately has increased the competition for spots and made the task even tougher.

Following the final practice match against Hawthorn, Scott said there were 'two or three spots that 10 or 12 players were putting their hands up for.'

As a comparison, here is the 22 selected for North's Elimination Final against West Coast, its last competitive match of 2012.

B: Scott McMahon, Nathan Grima, Michael Firrito
HB: Shaun Atley, Scott Thompson, Jamie Macmillan
C: Sam Gibson, Daniel Wells, Liam Anthony
HF: Ben Cunnington, Robbie Tarrant, Lindsay Thomas
F: Brent Harvey, Drew Petrie, Lachlan Hansen
Fol: Todd Goldstein, Andrew Swallow, Jack Ziebell
Int: Ryan Bastinac, Sam Wright, Kieran Harper, Matt Campbell

The underlined players will be unavailable for Round 1 through either suspension (Harvey, McMahon) or having left the club (Campbell).

If there were no further changes then there would be three positions to fill, and even then those pushing up will be piling the pressure on some of the regular senior players to hold their spot.

Leigh Adams is a likely inclusion having been unavailable for the Elimination Final after a season-ending shoulder injury.

Meanwhile players like Daniel Currie, Ben Jacobs, Aaron Mullett, Aaron Black and Jordie Gysberts are all sure to be in the mix.

So now it's over to you. Who would be in your 22 for Round 1? Post in the comments below.

Keep in mind:

Unavailable: Scott McMahon (suspension), Brent Harvey (suspension)
Rookies: Cam Richardson, Tim McGenniss, Eric Wallace, Max Warren, Ben Speight
New: Daniel Currie, Ben Jacobs, Jordan Gysberts, Taylor Hine, Taylor Garner, Mason Wood, Mitch Wilkins
