Daniel Wells’ superb efforts on Sunday were recognised by Brad Scott and Brenton Sanderson with the midfielder polling eight votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.

In addition to collecting the most disposals of anyone on the field, 30, Wells also had 10 inside 50’s and was involved in nine of North’s 20 scoring shots, also a team-high.

Wells has now polled votes from the coaches in three consecutive matches, equalling the longest stretch by a Roo this season. He’s only four votes behind Brent Harvey at the top of the North Melbourne leaderboard.

Leigh Adams was the other North player to poll votes, registering four for his 17 possessions and 3 goals. A constant threat at ground level all day, Adams begun North’s fightback midway through the second quarter with a dodging, weaving, checkside goal.
