Majak Daw’s long-awaited debut attracted 68 of his family and friends, as well as over 1,200 people from a variety of school and community groups, local businesses and community football teams eager to catch him in action.
Local primary schools in and around North Melbourne, Kensington and Flemington, a large group of Team Africa footballers and even some international guests from a touring Chinese basketball team were in the Huddle bays to see history made.
Aussie Rules football connects people from a variety of diverse cultural backgrounds, no matter where you come from, what language you speak or even if you play the game yourself. Sunday afternoon at Etihad Stadium highlighted once again the unity the game creates.
