While four sides have already taken the field in Round 1, Dream Team coaches still have the ability to chop and change their side to find the perfect mix.

Around the online forums, there’s plenty of discussion regarding North’s fantasy prospects, and much of that talk centres around the rucks Todd Goldstein and Daniel Currie. Currie's price-tag of $102,700 combined with his good pre-season form makes him a tantalising bench prospect.

Majak Daw is also in the mix for selection and while it doesn't necessarily have to be a one-or-the-other decision between he and Currie, having two bench players from the same team is a risky proposition.

NMFC.com.au looks at potential selections in coaches' Dream Team in 2013.

Shaun Atley

2012 average: 60.4
2012 high score: 89 - Round 13 v Adelaide
Position: Defender
Price: $311,200

Atley's raw numbers over the pre-season don't suggest a player that would come under a lot of consideration; however with more midfield time in line for the 20-year old it should lead to an increased possession count. His average increased from 48 to 60 in his second season.

A similar rise will see 72 per game from the third-year player, and all it would take is an extra 10-15 points a game for Atley to be a valuable mid-price selection.

Daniel Currie

2012 average: N/A
2012 high score: N/A
Position: Ruck
Price: $102,700

Currie is a tricky proposition. It appears unlikely both he and Goldstein will play in the same side, so if he's selected the assumption is that he will spend some time as the number one ruckman and play enough games to increase in price.

It's essentially a judgment call when selecting the first-year North player, with many coaches happy to take the risk.

Ben Cunnington

2012 average: 75.2
2012 high score: 110 - Round 21 v Collingwood
Position: Midfield
Price: $387,500

Cunnington finished 2012 strongly with three consecutive scores over 95 to finish the home and away season.

His tackling is a valuable asset that translates well to Dream Team scoring, however it's his tendency to handball more than kick that may counter that.

With a 1:1.4 kick-to-handball ratio it may cost him points despite his work in tight at clearances being incredibly important on-field.

Majak Daw

2012 average: N/A
2012 high score: N/A
Position: Ruck
Price: $108,500

An impressive pre-season from Daw has now changed the questions surrounding his debut to 'when?' rather than 'if?'.

His selection in your team depends on where you see the answer to 'when?' being. If it's within the first four to six weeks of the home and away season beginning, he could be a handy pickup.

Todd Goldstein

2012 average: 79.1
2012 high score: 140 - Round 9 v Brisbane
Position: Ruck
Price: $407,300

Goldstein was kept on his toes by Currie in the early stages of the pre-season, but bounced back with a good early showing against Hawthorn in the final practice match.

Post-game, Brad Scott said the first quarter was 'Goldy's best in about two or three years', which is a great sign for the ruckman and probably indicates he has the inside running to play in Round 1.

With scores of 87, 95 and 104 in his last three outings against the Magpies, a similar output would give your team a flying start.

Brent Harvey

2012 average: 87.7
2012 high score: 127 - Round 12 v Gold Coast and Round 21 v Collingwood
Position: Midfield/Forward
Price: $452,000

While it would not be wise to have Harvey in your side from the beginning of the season, he should be a feature target if any premiums start out the season underperforming.

Harvey looks a lock to face the Western Bulldogs in Round 7 if fit, the team he has the second-highest average score against.

Andrew Swallow

2012 average: 102.6
2012 high score: 144 - Round 14 v St Kilda
Position: Midfield
Price: $528,800

An impressive pre-season average indicates the second-year captain is ready to pick up where he left off in 2012.

If Swallow manages to increase his average by five to ten points per game, he will become a must-buy for everyone in the Dream Team world. His pre-season form suggests he may be well on the way.

Daniel Wells

2012 average: 87.2
2012 high score: 129 - Round 14 v St Kilda
Position: Midfield
Price: $448,200

An interrupted training block before his first pre-season game may have excused Wells for easing his way into the season. However that wasn't the case as he showed the silky smooth form that has become so familiar to North Melbourne fans.

Wells' 2012 average of 87.2 was slightly down from his career-high of 93.2 in 2011, but he still posted eight scores of more than 100. The average was also slightly deflated by an early injury in Round 20 against Essendon.
