North Melbourne defender Michael Firrito has indicated several senior players may be on their last chance as the club runs out to do battle with St.Kilda this afternoon.

Coach Brad Scott again threw his support behind the under performing group at the selection table, making just the one change to the side that lost to Adelaide by a point.  Majak Daw was omitted from the team that capitulated in the dying minutes of last week's game, while Jack Ziebell was suspended for a bump.

Firrito says he is one of those who will be looking to repay the coach's faith.

"I certainly didn't play the role as well as I would've liked. And there would be a few others too," Firrito told The Herald Sun's Bruce Matthews before training on Saturday.

"But the thing about our coach, he backs us in to the hilt and gives us a lot of confidence. We have to repay him for installing a lot of belief in us."

After a confronting match review on Monday, the Roo veteran explained training at Aegis Park was intense with some sparring included.

"We had a solid hitout, but it was all controlled. We did a bit of boxing and, along with all the things we were practicing, we really needed that competitive effort and spirit that this club's renowned for," Firrito said.

"Obviously it has been a bit tougher (week) than normal, considering the events that unfolded. But we've had some really good training sessions out on the track to address the areas we thought needed to be addressed.

"We think we're in the right spot, but we'll soon find out. We certainly didn't sugarcoat over any areas that we thought were exposing us.

"So we've been over them, we've practiced them, we've trained them and now we look to put them in place.

"We're fully aware of where we need to improve and this (St Kilda game) is a great platform to do it."

North's VFL affiliates Werribee and North Ballarat play each other at Avalon Airport Oval this afternoon and there'll be plenty of players including Levi Greenwood out to make another statement.

"We're in a great position with not too many injuries and guys performing well. So, we have that pressure from within with competition for spots," Firrito said.

Club champion Brent Harvey will run out for his 350th game when North plays St.Kilda and Daniel Wells will pull on the jumper for the 200th time.
