Majak Daw's return to the VFL this weekend is set to give North Ballarat's back line headaches and one man in particular may have a sleepless night.

Development coaches Josh Drummond and John Lamont agree Luke Delaney could be the best man to pick up Daw on Sunday at Avalon Airport Oval.

"'Luke is our big, deep defender and Maj normally plays pretty deep when he's forward. If you combine the two, it looks like that's a pretty likely matchup," Drummond said.

"Luke would be the best guy to go to Maj and that would be an entertaining contest down forward for the crowd," Lamont told NMFC.com.au.

North Ballarat's midfield is also a strength, with Liam Anthony, Ben Jacobs and Brad McKenzie all vital parts of the Roosters' team.

However Werribee can boast a centre line that's just as impressive with Jordie Gysberts, Levi Greenwood and Tim McGenniss all in good form.

The role of Greenwood though is up for discussion. The left footer has played a few run-with roles in 2013 but is also damaging when he has possession; a conundrum Drummond recognises.

"He's been working off run-with roles and getting his own footy. There's probably a chance that Levi and LA (Liam Anthony) will spend some time against each other," Drummond said.

Lamont was full of praise for North Ballarat's listed Roos.

"Both LA and Benny (Jacobs) get plenty of the footy. There'll have to be some accountability for them around the stoppages and particularly with Anthony on the outside because he's such a good runner.

"They're going to get the ball. We can't stop them getting it completely but we have to make sure when they do get the ball their possessions are pressured."

Mason Wood was also impressive in Werribee's Foxtel Cup win with only inaccuracy stopping him from a possible best on ground performance.

"The way he moved with the footy was pretty impressive. We'll have to try and body him up and not allow him to get those hit-ups. He leads pretty hard so we'll have to be smart with our positioning on him."

Werribee against North Ballarat is always an eagerly anticipated match-up for North Melbourne supporters.

The club's VFL affiliates are fighting for a spot in the top eight.
