Over the course of the season, North Melbourne’s Twitter handle - @northkangaroos – asked fans which plays they would like to see made into gifs.

Now with the year having come to a close, the best 32 gifs will battle against each other to take out the inaugural gif of the year title.

The second round has begun, with just 16 plays remaining. There will continue to be two matchups per day, with the voting period approximately 24 hours for each one.

The full draw can be viewed at the bottom of the page.

Round 2, Match 19

Daniel Wells’ candy (Round 4) v Kayne Turner’s crunching tackle (Round 22)

Wells’ trickery is mesmerising to watch in this gif. With a simple body feint, the Kangaroo manages to make Gary Rohan fly by him, allowing much more time and space to clear out of the defensive 50.

Round 1: Defeated Ben Brown’s debut celebration with 56 per cent of the vote

Late in North’s thrilling defeat of Adelaide, it appeared that the Crows were about to work a shot on goal and cut the margin to within a goal.

Out of nowhere, Turner appeared and chased down Rory Laird, knocking the ball out of his hand and allowing the Kangaroos to regroup in a critical passage of the game.

Round 1: Defeated Kayne Turner’s bump with 75 per cent of the vote

Round 2, Match 20

Shaun Atley dummies Pendlebury (Round 5) v #4: Ben Cunnington’s don’t argue (Round 10)

It’s not often that a player of Scott Pendlebury’s calibre gets turned inside out, but that’s exactly what Shaun Atley achieved in Round 5 against the Magpies.

Running off half-back, Atley went right, then left, then right again, before running past the back of Pendlebury.

Round 1: Defeated Robin Nahas’ perfect tackle with 60 per cent of the vote

One of the most viewed gifs of the year was a demonstration of Cunnington’s brute strength against Geelong’s Travis Varcoe.

Varcoe attempted to grab the arm of Cunnington, but the Kangaroos’ midfielder was having none of it and brushed him aside before running forward.

Round 1: Defeated Ben Cunnington’s fend off with 96 per cent of the vote
