ET: Tigers will 'crack in'
The timid Tigers that let down supporters last week will be no longer with a new-look, attacking side.
The Richmond captain told the Herald Sun’s Rebecca Wilson’s he expects his teammates to bounce back hard after their shattering 50-point loss to Essendon.
“We have got a really challenging match against North who are in some really good form,” Cotchin said.
“It’s perfect for our group to show the resolve and the resilience that we have.”
The Tigers have a challenging run ahead with Fremantle and Sydney to come. But the challenge starts on Sunday against the Kangaroos.
“They love playing at Etihad but we have just got to make sure that our intensity is right there from the word go at the weekend — crash in, have a crack and win the footy.
“Contested footy is such an important barometer for all games these days so we’ll just have to be playing our best footy this week and then hopefully take some confidence into the week following.”
Richmond is in 16th place on the ladder after slumping to 3-7.
“We’re the ones out there making decisions on field,” Cotchin added.
“At the moment, it’s not to the standard that we set for ourselves away from game day.
“But it’s our challenge to turn that around and look within ourselves and within our playing group and make sure that the actions we’re putting out on the park do take us forward.
“As a playing group we were obviously very disappointed with the way that we performed (against Essendon) and it wasn’t the standard that we set out to play each week.
“Our focus this week is to just be better in our approach and our intensity and make sure that we play four quarters of good footy.”
