Coming off a limited pre-season, Adams nevertheless started the home and away season extremely well.
Six clearances in Round 2, nine tackles in Round 3 and 29 disposals in Round 4 showed the mid/forward was in good form. He kept his disposal count high through the first half of the season, averaging 19.7 through his first 10 matches.
However it may have been a case of a delayed preparation catching up with Adams as the year went on. He was named as substitute on a number of occasions in the road to the finals.
Just as it appeared he was ready to play the first final of his career, the number 13 suffered a concussion in Round 23 against Melbourne. The after-effects from the knock lingered, meaning Adams proved to be unavailable for all three of North Melbourne’s games in September.
Despite the setback, Adams is contracted for a further two years, meaning he will aim end his no-finals streak by the time his current deal expires.

“I’ve been running since the first of January and I’ve done a lot of conditioning work but it’s now more about the football work and the repeat efforts. It will be a race against time and it’s unlikely I’ll be there for Round 1 and hopefully I’ll play another two rounds before then and at least put in back in the selectors’ hands and then it’s up to them.”
