With eight goals in his last three games between the sides, Gary Ablett has made a habit of producing his best footy against North Melbourne.

Now he has his eye firmly on an upset at Etihad Stadium.

While the Suns are yet to win at the venue during their short history, the two-time Brownlow Medalist is adamant this could be the week they break the drought.

“North Melbourne were very good against Fremantle on Friday and this match is going to give us a good guide as to where we are at. Hopefully we can make it 5-2,” Ablett told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“We’ve had some pretty big losses – some of these at Etihad – but we know if we stick to the game plan, execute our roles, we can match it with any side in the competition.”

Gold Coast has had its best ever start to a season with four wins from six games, sitting equal on points with the Kangaroos.

After another impressive victory against the Giants, Guy McKenna’s team is full of confidence.

“We still need to improve our polish but we did plenty of things right against GWS,” Ablett added.

“There’s a confidence that comes from discipline and training. And after four years together – including going through some very tough times – we believe we can match it with anyone, anywhere.”

Personally, Ablett has had another strong start to the year, boasting favoritism for the Brownlow Medal with an average of 33 disposals a game.

The Suns are also likely to be boosted by the return of Harley Bennell, who had 24 disposals in the NEAFL competition coming off a calf injury.
